National and State Leaders Focus Energy, Attention on Top Priority for Republicans at Kansans for Life Political Action Committee’s ‘Breakfast for Babies’ at the site of the GOP Convention

MANHATTAN, KANSAS  With equal parts optimism and firm resolve, Kansas GOP leaders are standing strong togetherunited in their support of the VALUE THEM BOTH Amendment and preparing for the fight ahead.

On Saturday, April 24, 2021, national, statewide and local pro-life leaders will kickstart the second day of GOP Convention-related activities with the Kansans for Life Political Action Committee (KFL PAC) “Breakfast for Babies”.

National pro-life power couple Matt and Mercedes Schlapp will headline the event, offering a clear sign of the attention the VALUE THEM BOTH Amendment is garnering across the nation.

Matt, a Wichita native, is Chairman of the American Conservative Union and host of CPAC. Mercedes is a Senior Fellow with the ACU Foundation and served as a senior advisor to former President Donald J. Trump. Both bring years of experience supporting and defending life in highly visible roles.

“People across the country who value both women and babies are watching the Kansas amendment effort closely,” said Ms. Schlapp. “Many Americans realize the abortion industry has an almost unsatiable appetite for power and profits and has opposed every possible regulation and limit. Kansas is a bellwether state for the nation, providing a foretaste of the tactics the industry wants to employ elsewhere.”

Republicans unified behind the VALUE THEM BOTH Amendment in early January, with every state legislator in the party voting in favor of its passage. The measure will now go before voters on August 2, 2022, when Kansans will be able to regain their right to place commonsense limits on the abortion industry through their elected officials. It will also protect more than 20 bipartisan-enacted safeguards Kansans have supported over the last 20 years, including sanitation standards for health facilities, informed consent with accurate medical information about procedural risks, parental notification for parents of minors, and protections against taxpayer funding being used to pay for abortions.

“The VALUE THEM BOTH Amendment effort has been led and championed by women Republicans from the very beginning,” said Melissa Leach, KFL PAC Manager. “These forerunners and stalwart defenders of Kansas protections for both women and babies worked tirelessly to get us across the first finish line in the state legislature. Our KFL PAC event will celebrate this critical victory and embolden the party for the next phase of our effort.”

Breakfast for Babies will additionally feature U.S. Senators Jerry Moran (R-Manhattan) and Roger Marshall (R-Great Bend) and U.S. House Members Ron Estes (R-Wichita), Jake LaTurner (R-Topeka) and Tracey Mann (R-Salina) who will share their convictions for the pro-life movement. The event will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn Manhattan.
