KFL PAC Endorses Ty Masterson/Jeff Klemp, urges pro-lifers to unite to defeat pro-abortion Vicki Schmidt in Primary Race for Governor
Wichita, Kansas | June 5th — Kansans for Life Political Action Committee (KFL PAC) is proud to endorse Ty Masterson for Governor and Jeff Klemp for Lt. Governor as they seek the Republican nomination in 2026.
“While other pro-life candidates are also running for Governor in the Republican Primary, the frightening scenario of radical pro-abortion Vicki Schmidt slipping through a crowded race to claim an unearned victory is too great to ignore. As a State Senator, Vicki Schmidt voted with the abortion industry a staggering 53 times, compiling one of the most pro-abortion records of any candidate to seek statewide office in Kansas,” said Larry Damm, KFL PAC Chairman.
“At the same time, Ty Masterson (R-Andover) has built a rock-solid pro-life record while serving in the legislature. His running mate Jeff Klemp (R-Leavenworth) also has a 100% pro-life voting record. With President Trump’s endorsement, the Masterson-Klemp ticket presents pro-life voters with a clear opportunity to rally behind proven pro-life leadership, and unite our votes, rather than dilute them. We must close the path for Vicki Schmidt to emerge ahead through a divided pro-life vote in a crowded field.”
While Schmidt is framing herself as a moderate Republican aligned with Kansas voters, her record shows that she is an extremist on life issues. In the legislature, Schmidt opposed:
- significant limits on cruel live dismemberment abortions
- protections for child rape survivors
- parental consent rights for minor girls’ abortions
- the freedom of medical professionals to refuse to perform abortions.
Schmidt also wanted to force Kansas taxpayers to fund abortions.
Since 2023, Kansas Senate President Ty Masterson has led the Senate in overriding more than 15 vetoes from pro-abortion Governor Laura Kelly, advancing some of the strongest pro-life protections in Kansas history. His commitment to the pro-life movement began long before elected office, including his involvement in Wichita’s Summer of Mercy in 1991.
“After a vigorous vetting process including discussion with most of the candidates and much prayer among our committee, we acknowledge that many of the others seeking the Republican nomination for governor are truly pro-life,” stated Damm. “That said, we feel it to be imperative to unite pro-life voters behind a single candidate to protect the lives of the preborn, their mothers and families.”
Scott Schwab and Ken Rahjes have pro-life voting records, Philip Sarnecki and Joy Eakins both articulate the pro-life message well and have supported pro-life causes, Charlotte O’Hara and Michelle Dombrosky have pro-life records and strong pro-life community ties, and Stacy Rogers has campaigned on a pro-life platform.
The Republican Primary Election is Tuesday, August 4th. Additional endorsements from KFL PAC for state and local races will be released in the coming weeks. To learn more about KFL PAC’s endorsement process, click here.
