Topeka: Kansans for Life, the state’s largest pro-life organization, calls on Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Barbara Bollier to be honest about her voting record on abortion. Her record on abortion is extensive, extreme, and Kansans deserve to know the truth.
Besides supporting late-term and taxpayer funded abortions, Bollier’s fanatical record includes opposition to parental notification and consent for minors seeking abortion. When recently asked by KMBC 9 News in Kansas City why she opposed the 2011 parental consent measure, she claimed the regulation was “cruel” to minor girls because “sometimes fathers are rapists.”
It is shameful that Bollier would use such tragic situations to mislead voters. The fact is, she either didn’t read the legislation before voting on it or she is intentionally lying to voters. One look at the language of the law clearly shows that it makes an exception in such heartbreaking situations:
(3) If the minor’s pregnancy was caused by sexual intercourse with the minor’s natural father, adoptive father, stepfather, or legal guardian, then the written consent of the minor’s mother shall be sufficient. Notice of such circumstances shall be reported to the proper authorities as provided in K.S.A. 2019 Supp.38-2223, and amendments thereto.”
-HB 2035, 2011 or K.S.A. 65-6705
“Barbara Bollier either didn’t read what was in the bill she was voting on or she is trying to cover up her extremist record on abortion for political gain,” said Melissa Leach, KFL PAC Manager. “To think that she would allow an abortionist to have access to a pregnant, vulnerable 14-year-old girl without her parents’ knowledge or involvement, is beyond the pale. No wonder she doesn’t want Kansans to know about it.”
